Charles Moore Receives the John M. Olguin Environment Award
On April 30, 2005, Captain Charles Moore, founder of Algalita Marine Research Foundation accepted the John M. Olguin Environment Award at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro, California. This award was created to honor John M. Olguin, Director Emeritus of the Aquarium and to perpetuate the spirit of his many gifts to the community. This award is given to an individual, business or organization that has made a significant contribution toward making our marine and coastal environment a better place, and teaching others about stewardship of these precious resources.
"It is an honor of the highest order," said Captain Moore, "and, it will be one of my prized awards since John M. Olgin has always been a role model and leader to all who study and celebrate the marine environment." Past recipients of the award include: Heal the Bay, Dr. Sylvia Earl, Jean-Michel Cousteau, The Port of Los Angeles and Catalina Island Conservancy.
