Research - General Plastic Quantification

2007 Mississippi River/Gulf of Mexico samples
Algalita is concerned about the levels of plastic in marine environments on a global scale. Thus shore and water surface samples were collected from the Mississippi River/Gulf of Mexico. These samples from an area outside of the North Pacific Gyre will shed light on the pervasiveness of plastic marine debris. These samples are in the process of being analyzed by the researchers at the S.E.A. Lab in Redondo and at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
