Plastic Density in the Pacific: 2002 Data

2002 Voyage Summary

The 2002 Voyage added new Manta trawl sample sites to Algalita's database and once again extended the sample range further west. In addition to Manta trawl data, the Bongo nets* were deployed to sample at depths of both 10 and 30 meters. This sampling method provided valuable data regarding plastic presence throughout the water column.

Count density refers to the number of plastic particles found per cubic meter of water. The larger the circle on the map, the greater number of plastic particles found at that particular site.
