Research Voyages
Algalita’s research trips to the North Pacific Gyre were initiated by Captain Moore for several reasons: 1) to determine the levels and types of plastic debris now present in the North Pacific Ocean, 2) monitor them over time and 3) devise effective way to ameliorate the situation. Our primary work is to create a baseline data set documenting the level of plastic debris pollution found in the North Pacific Ocean from the inland watersheds to the coast zone and into the high seas.
