Algalita MRF Honored at the Water Quality Awards

Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in Water Quality Research

Algalita Marine Research Foundation was among several individuals and organizations recently honored at the California Regional Water Quality Control Board Los Angeles Region 2003 Annual Water Quality Awards held on October 23, 2003 at the Glendale Hilton Hotel.

AMRF was awarded the 2003 Water Quality Research Award. This award is given for a major study or body of work that has fostered a better understanding of water quality issues.

“Through its dedication to innovative research, education and restoration of the marine environment, Algalita Marine Research Foundation (AMRF) uniquely merges sound scientific principles with heartfelt advocacy. AMRF’s research has provided invaluable support for important trash and stormwater regulations by showing that polluted runoff and trash do not just physically degrade our rivers and beaches, but have a permanent impact on the health and vitality of our Oceans.” (from the Water Quality Awards program)
